It will run and it will have the characteristics of a steam engine.
I don't know how much KM it will make, but it is not important as it will make lots of torque. The addition of better heads, carbs and exhaust will make it better when $$$ allow.
The best linkage...? It depends on many things. If you have a standard fan housing then a crossbar. If you don't have the heater holes that go to the heat exchangers then a swivel linkage is much cheaper and works wonderfully.

i always thought that size of carb doesn't determine it - if engine needs x amount of gas to run say 13,5:1 a/f ratio at y rpm and z load, it will need exactly the same amount of gas to run those a/f no matter size of carb - with single solex 30 as with dual 48 . that is why engine can run ok with small carbs jetted fat and big carbs jetted lean. am i missing something?? :?:

A 1600 engine can run a pair of 40mm Dellortos
If it is a standard 1600 it will work best between 1500-4500rpm and would need about 30 mm venturi and 120 main jets.
If it has a sporty camshaft and better heads and exhaust the same 1600 has the ability to run to 6000rpm and would do better with 34mm venturi and about 145 main jets. If the carbs are not modified from one engine to the next then the engine will not perform as it should.
The 1600 with the bigger camshaft etc needs more air to breathe better at higher rpm and will therefore need more fuel to keep the air/fuel ratio the same as before.

no to sie znowu wykaze:D

silnik 1600 moze latac na parze dellorto 40.jesli to standardowy 1600 bedzie najlepiej pracowac w przedziale 1500-4500 obr i bedzie potrzebowal 30mm venturi i glowne dysze 120
1600 z lepszym walkiem itp potrzebuje wiecej powietrza, zeby lepiej oddychac przy wyzszych obrotach i dlatego potrzebuje tez wiecej paliwa, zeby utrzymac ten sam stosunek pow/paliwo

to teraz moje pytanko:mam standardowy 1600,nabylem sobie parke weberow 36.jak sprawdzic jakie tam sa dysze, czy ew zmieniac przed zakladaniem na motor czy jak juz bedzie sie cos zle dzialo.i czy mozna u ciebie chris nabyc odpowiednie oprzyrzadowanie do ww silnika i gaznikow

Thanks fot the translation Matys
Weber 36s usually come with 30mm venturi, so you should be ok.
The idle jets need to be about 55 and the main 120-125 with 180 air correctors.
You can check the size of the venturi by opening the throttle plate to let some more light in. The size will be stamped on the top of the venturi, though may be difficult to see because of dirt, lack of light etc.
Take the carb apart and clean it especially all the canals between the pump jet and the rubber diaphragm. The jets can be drilled if they are too small.
We have all the linkages, manifolds etc. Give Marcys a call.

so the amount of needed fuel depends on engine size and revs, not the size of carb like you stated. engine needs more fuel because it is bigger and/or revs faster, not because of bigger carb(s)

A 40mm Dellorto with a 34mm venturi is a bigger carb than a 40mm Dellorto with a 30mm venturi
